Study Holiday in Malta with Host Family Accommodation

A study holiday with host family accommodation is designed for young people aged 14 to 17 who want to study English in Malta while living with a local host family. The programme combines an English course, accommodation, full board, activities and excursions, offering an international experience similar in structure to Experience inMalta, but with a completely different type of accommodation: instead of staying at a resort, students share everyday life with their hosts and other international students. It is generally a more affordable option than resort accommodation and requires students to be more adaptable and independent.

Living with a host family in Malta

Staying with a host family means experiencing Maltese everyday life more closely, while respecting the schedules, spaces and habits of the people hosting the students. The families used for our programmes are licensed by the Malta Tourism Authority and meet the requirements for hosting students. Students generally share a room with other young people of a similar age. Rooms may be twin, triple or quadruple, and students can use the common areas of the home while respecting the family’s rules.

English course and international life

Students attend their English course together with other international students and are placed in classes according to their language level. The day is therefore not spent entirely with the host family. In the morning or afternoon, depending on the school’s programme, students attend lessons and take part in the scheduled activities and excursions. Here too, the aim is to use English not only during lessons, but throughout the entire experience: with international students, during activities and in everyday life with the host family.

Full board

The stay includes full board. Breakfast and dinner are provided by the host family, while lunch is normally provided as a packed lunch to be eaten during the day with the other students. Any special dietary requirements or specific diets must be communicated at the time of booking.

Activities and excursions

In addition to English lessons, the programmes include a schedule of organised activities and excursions. During their stay, students therefore have the opportunity to discover Malta, take part in recreational activities and spend time with other international students.

An option that requires greater independence

Host family accommodation offers a very different experience from Experience inMalta. Students need to travel between their host family, school and activity locations, adapt to their hosts’ routines and manage certain parts of their day more independently. For this reason, we particularly recommend this option for young people aged 14 to 17 who are sufficiently independent and adaptable. For those who prefer a programme where the school, accommodation, restaurant, swimming pool and inMalta Group Leaders are all located within the same complex, we recommend Summer Camp inMalta, Summer Club inMalta or Experience inMalta.

A different way to experience Malta

Choosing a host family means experiencing a study holiday from a different perspective. During the day, students study English, take part in activities and meet young people from other countries; at the end of the day, they return to their host family’s home. It is an experience that requires greater adaptability, but also provides an opportunity to discover a more authentic side of everyday life in Malta and offers a more affordable way to enjoy an international study experience.
