Both programmes are designed for young adults aged 18 to 25, but they offer two different ways to experience Malta and improve your English. Young inMalta is a summer programme based mainly on conversation and using English in real-life situations with young native English speakers, without traditional classroom lessons. Study inMalta is available throughout the year and includes an English course at a language school in Malta. Both programmes include accommodation, services, some activities and plenty of free time to experience Malta independently.
Choose Young inMalta if you want a highly social summer experience, to use English mainly through conversation with young native English speakers, live on Campus and enjoy plenty of freedom. You will improve your English by speaking it. Choose Study inMalta if you prefer to attend a structured course at an English language school, want to choose from different accommodation options or would like to travel at any time of the year. If you are unsure, inMalta can help you understand which of the two programmes best suits the way you like to travel and your goals.
English, Conversation and Courses
No. Young inMalta was created as an alternative to a traditional English course. The aim is to speak and use the language in real-life situations through conversation sessions and time spent with young native English speakers in your age group. English is therefore practised more spontaneously, including during everyday moments and activities.
During the programme, conversation sessions are organised with young native English speakers, with an approximate ratio of one native English speaker to every three participants. These are not traditional lessons with a teacher: the aim is to create real conversations between young people of a similar age, making it more natural to speak English, overcome the fear of making mistakes and become more confident. Some experiences and social activities are also shared with them. Conversations take place at the beach, on Campus, over lunch or dinner, during afternoons together and in everyday situations.
Yes. With Study inMalta, you attend a course at an English language school in Malta. We can help you choose the school and course best suited to your level, your goals and the period in which you would like to travel.
No. You do not need to have an advanced level of English. Study inMalta allows you to choose a course suited to your level. Young inMalta is also designed to help you improve your ability to communicate: you do not need to speak perfect English, but you should be willing to try, take part in conversations and use the language.
Travelling, Accommodation and Meals
Of course. You do not need to travel with friends or as part of an existing group. You can enrol individually and meet other young people during your stay. In fact, travelling on your own can be a great opportunity to meet new people, use English more often and experience Malta with greater independence.
Yes. You can participate with one or more friends or with your partner. When booking, you can let us know about any accommodation requests and we will check the available options.
Young inMalta includes accommodation at Campus inMalta, a modern university Campus and an environment particularly suited to young people your age, with rooms and a wide range of facilities and services available. Living on Campus also makes it easy to meet other young people and share different moments of the day together.
Study inMalta gives you more choice. Depending on your preferences, budget and the school you attend, you can choose from different options, including a hotel, apartment or host family. inMalta can help you choose the most suitable accommodation, also taking into account the location of your school.
It depends on the programme and the accommodation option you choose. Young inMalta includes breakfast and also provides pocket money on a prepaid card, which you can use for shopping at the Campus supermarket and at the restaurants and other food outlets on Campus. You will also have access to a kitchen. With Study inMalta, meals depend on the type of accommodation selected: if you stay with a host family, breakfast and dinner with your host family are included; if you stay in a hotel, breakfast at the hotel is included and you will also receive pocket money on a prepaid card to use for dinner at restaurants, cafés or fast-food outlets; if you stay in a shared apartment, meals are not included, but you will have access to a kitchen.
Yes. Transfers from the airport to your accommodation and back to the airport are always included. With Young inMalta, on the day of your arrival you will receive a WhatsApp message (or a message through another app specified when booking) to help you easily find our staff after collecting your luggage. With Study inMalta, we will arrange your transfer from the airport to your accommodation when you arrive in Malta.
Activities and Free Time
Yes, but both programmes deliberately leave plenty of room for independence. Young inMalta includes experiences such as Comino and the Blue Lagoon, Jet Ski, Café del Mar, Pool Parties and Mellieħa Bay. Study inMalta offers experiences such as Comino and the Blue Lagoon, a day at the beach, Valletta and a Welcome Party at a Disco Pub. The exact programme may vary depending on the period and the package selected.
The programmes are designed for adults and give participants a high degree of independence. Organised activities are opportunities to spend time together, discover Malta and socialise, but your stay is not structured like an under-18 programme with every part of the day organised and supervised. No activity or excursion is compulsory.
Yes. This is one of the key features of both programmes. When you do not have lessons, conversation sessions or scheduled activities, you are free to organise your time however you like: go to the beach, explore Malta, go shopping, go out in the evening, eat out, attend other events, go clubbing or spend time with the people you meet during your stay.
Yes. Participants are aged between 18 and 25 and are adults. You are therefore free to organise your evenings and social life independently, while respecting the rules of your accommodation and Maltese law. There is no evening curfew with Young inMalta or with Study inMalta packages that include hotel or apartment accommodation. Study inMalta with host family accommodation may have a curfew out of respect for the members of the host family.
Independence and Support
Young inMalta and Study inMalta do not work in the same way as inMalta programmes for under-18s. You are an adult and maintain your independence. inMalta organises the services included in your programme and remains a point of reference for you in Malta, but you will not have a Group Leader supervising you or organising every moment of your day.
Dates and Length of Stay
The length of your stay depends on the programme you choose. Young inMalta is a summer experience organised on specific dates, while Study inMalta offers greater flexibility and is available throughout the year. You can therefore choose the option that best suits the amount of time you have available. Young inMalta is generally booked for stays of 1 to 4 weeks, although most of our students choose to stay in Malta for 2 or 3 weeks. Study inMalta can be booked for short stays of just one or two weeks, or for longer periods of several months.
Young inMalta is a summer programme. Available dates and departure periods are published together with the prices for each season.
Study inMalta is available throughout the year. This makes it suitable for anyone who wants to travel in autumn, winter or spring, or organise their stay on dates outside the summer programmes. It is available every week of the year, with arrival in Malta on Saturday or Sunday and courses starting every Monday.
